I know this is one of Mieville’s earlier works, and it doesn’t have the glowing recommendations that his later stuff has, but I thoroughly enjoyed this caper into London’s dirty sewers. The plot sped along, the writing was as beautiful as always, and the world was satisfying without being overly complex. It didn’t have the twists and turns that he’s so well known for these days, but it didn’t feel like they were missing, either.
Solid, engaging read with good characters and a satisfying conclusion.
